Dentures are removable oral appliances that are used to replace missing teeth. Dentures are frequently recommended when you need to replace multiple teeth or all the teeth in a dental arch. There are several types of dentures available to meet your needs:
- Complete Dentures – This type of denture is used to replace all of the teeth in a full dental arch. Depending on your individual needs, our dentist may recommend replacing all the teeth in both the upper and lower arch, or in just one of the arches.
- Partial Dentures – Partial dentures are recommended when you are missing multiple teeth but still have some healthy remaining natural teeth. Partial dentures are secured in your mouth using clasps or a thin framework that attach to the natural teeth.
- Immediate Dentures – Immediate dentures are placed directly following the extraction of your original teeth so that you do not have to go any length of time without your teeth. We may need to make adjustments as your mouth heals from the extraction procedure.
- Implant-Supported Dentures – Implant-supported dentures combine the stability of implants with the cost-effectiveness of dentures. This type of denture is placed atop several implants to give you a long-lasting solution for your smile.
Dentures provide many benefits, improving your ability to speak and eat, restoring your natural facial volume, and enhancing the beauty of your smile. Your appliance is custom-made to provide you with the best possible results for your smile’s beauty, oral health and function.
Please remember that you need to take good care of your dentures to ensure that they continue to fit and function properly. This includes keeping your dentures clean, regularly inspecting them to make sure they are in good condition, and periodically relining or rebasing them to improve their fit. When you visit Exceptional Dentistry for your regular appointments, our dentist will also check your dentures to ensure that they fit well and are functioning properly.
